About Us

Hello, I am Terri, the founder of Mental U. I am an Advocate for Mental Wellness. I established this platform with the aim of destigmatizing seeking help for mental health among teens and young adults. Through Mental U, I advocate for the importance of breaking down societal barriers that prevent kids from asking for assistance when needed. Listening to the voices of children is central to our mission, as we believe their insights are invaluable in shaping effective support systems. This advocacy led me to champion the Suicide Crisis Lifeline, recognizing its significance beyond its role as a Suicide Crisis Lifeline. Identifying a pressing need for proactive mental health support among youth, I was motivated to take action. Mental U strives to guide children toward positive pathways, addressing mental health concerns with empathy, understanding, and actionable solutions.

Purpose of Mental U:

The purpose of Mental U is to address the issues of mental health in our youth. We at Mental U want to create a culture and a space that enables them to become comfortable discussing their mental state, without shame or embarrassment. Mental U is designed to encourage them to take the first step, reach out, and call Trained Crisis Counselors and Trained Peers. Mental U seeks to challenge young people to understand how important it is to have ownership of self and the “Power of Their Personal Mental Puzzle.”

Vision of Mental U

Mental U has a vision for this group of youngsters to be self-advocates for their Personal Mental Well- Being. Mental U wants young people to learn that all mental states are different and treated differently. Mental U’s mission is to get young adults to take the first step, Make The Call, and talk to Trained Crisis Counselors and Trained Peers. We want young people to understand that during their struggles, there are support resources available for them. The ultimate goal is to have the resources to assist schools and programs—One Puzzle Piece at a Time.

I hope this message finds you in good spirits and with an abundance of joy. I am seeking your monetary support for an important cause that weighs heavy on my heart-Mental Advocacy for our youth. Mental U was created to give our youth the power to seek help with their mental health issues, and also assist with providing them valuable information on how to connect with caregivers who can help facilitate proper treatments and coping tools during a mental crisis. In the youth culture, social media is their lifeline; we must get them to understand their mental state is a lifeline to a happier future.

The challenge is to get our youth to admit they need help, seek help, and advocate for their Mental Wellness Recovery. We must get our youth to understand that they are our brightest future, and we hear and see their struggles.

It's going to take some time to cut through all the layers of self-stigmas associated with Mental Health. That is why I desperately need your support on this journey. I hope you will join me. That is why your donation is so important in helping our youth gain the power they need when seeking help for mental wellness.

"MentalU is such an amazing idea/program created by an Advocate for Mental Wellness! I donated to MentalU because the concept and reason behind it is priceless and revolutionary. I don't know why it took so long for something like this to be created. I wish something was available when our sons were in college!"

"With the increased number of young people suffering with mental health issues, this cause is not only personal, but it aligns with my passion for helping young people. The Mental U Program brought young people together from different walks of life to share their struggles with each other. They learned that it is ok not to be ok all the time. It was a beautiful experience for them."
