Trained Counselors and Trained Peers are available to hear U out and (hopefully) help U when U're feeling mentally or emotionally distressed, or even "just because" U need to purge some unwanted thoughts.

Before U Make The Call, it’s good to have some info about which support system, Suicide Crisis Lifeline or Warmlines.org, that best works for U and your mental wellness. Remember, "Knowledge is Power," and that’s a cool thang, too!

Calling the Suicide Crisis Lifeline or Warmline.org is the coolest thang U can do for U, because the Trained Counselors (Suicide Crisis Lifeline) and Trained Peers (Warmline.org) aren’t there to judge. They’re available to help U reach a safe space, free from distress—no matter what U're feeling. Calling is your first step.

Suicide Crisis Lifeline & Warmline.org: Two Awesome Resources

The first step of your mental wellness journey could be calling the Suicide Crisis Lifeline or Warmline.org —two resources for talking with someone about your mental health. "Knowledge is Power." Choose whichever service feels right for U—it could be a really cool thang.

Both of these resources, the Suicide Crisis Lifeline and Warmline.org are great support systems when U're feeling overwhelmed or in crisis mode.

Information

Suicide Crisis Lifeline: Trained Crisis Counselors who listen and provide info to help on your mental wellness journey.

  • Text 988 or call 800-273-8255
  • Trained Crisis Counselors are available 24/7, and chats are confidential and free.
  • These counselors are there to talk with U about anything: anxiety, depression, school stuff, family issues, loneliness nothing’s off limits when it comes to your mental wellness.

The Call Has Been Made

  • Crisis Counselor asks a few questions.
  • U are allowed to ask questions before your session.
  • If U choose to proceed, session will begin.
  • Discussion about whatever U want to chat about.

Concerns:

  • Last Resorts: If Crisis Counselors believe an individual may harm themselves, they may call law enforcement.
  • The Trained Crisis Counselors diagnose each situation; their main concern and job is to keep you safe 24/7.

Warmlines.org
Information

  • Calling can be cool—especially when it’s Peer2Peer.
  • Warmline.org are staffed by Trained Peers, which means they have gone through their own mental health or substance use challenges, so they understand.

  • Most states have Warmline.org, and they will only take calls if you live in that state.

  • Some states will take your call, even if you DO NOT live there, such as: Alabama, Connecticut, Florida, Indiana, Kansas, Massachusetts(*), Montana, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio.
  • All Warmline.org are free and confidential.

  • Check Warmline.org for a list of operations by time zone. Some Warmlines.org have set hours; others have no time limit and will keep chatting as long as U need.

  • Their goal is to provide emotional support when dealing with emotional distress. Support if you’re feeling overwhelmed. Support if you cannot talk with family or friends.
  • A place you can go when you need someone to listen to you, so that you don’t feel isolated.

  • Provides a safe, non-judgmental place.

  • (No fear of institutionalization). It’s a peer-to-peer connection, and making that call can be a big step on your mental wellness journey.

  • The Suicide Crisis Lifeline is available 24/7.
  • It’s Confidential and it’s Free.
  • You can chat with a Trained Crisis Counselor for as long as you’d like, and you can call as often as you’d like.
  • You can talk about whatever you want, from anxiety, depression, being overwhelmed, etc.
  • If a Trained Crisis Counselor believes that you might be in harm, they may call law enforcement. Some might not like this—institutionalized.
  • There are specific hours of operations of Warmlines.org. The only Warmlines.org available 24/7 is (Massachusetts Cape Cod).
  • It’s Confidential and it’s Free
  • Some states may have time limits on chatting with a peer; other states may have no time restrictions on talking with a peer.
  • Talk about whatever is bothering you
  • If your peer believes that you might be in harm, they will direct you to call the Suicide Crisis Lifeline
